FLEAP Application Steps:  APPLICATION OPENS FALL TERM 2018.

  1. Complete the ONLINE FLEAP APPLICATION.
  2. After program costs are posted online, if you want to participate in a program, submit a non-refundable* $300 deposit with the Cashier's Office (Deposit Payment Instructions).

*If the faculty led education abroad program you select is cancelled, your deposit will be returned to you (or applied to any outstanding balance you may have).  Otherwise, the deposit will be applied to the program fees.

What happens next?

Once we decide if a program will run, we will email you an information packet that includes:

  • Student Conduct Agreement for UCR students
  • Student Disciplinary Clearance for Non-UCR students
  • Photo Release and Emergency Protocol Form
  • Waiver of Liability
  • Health Clearance: includes Personal Health History, and Health & Mental Health Screening
  • Student Budget Worksheet
  • Passport Copy and 1 photo (2x2, white background) for your ISIC insurance card

Application and Deposit Process

Eligible UCR and non-UCR students can submit an application prior to meeting or speaking with the lead UCR instructor.

Once the program fees are posted online, please pay your non-refundable $300 application fee through the campus cashier's office (make certified checks payable to UC Regents).

Your application and deposit (which goes directly toward your program fees) will hold your spot in the program (provided open spaces remain), pending approval. A Student Information Packet will be sent to you unless we need to contact you regarding eligibility or for additional information. Once you receive the Student Information Packet, please start completing the forms and gathering whatever information is requested.

*If the faculty led education abroad program you select is cancelled, your deposit will be returned to you (or applied to any outstanding balance you may have).

Click here for step-by-step instructions on the Deposit Payment Instructions (for UCR Students and non-UCR Students).

Programs have Limited Space

All programs have limited space. Since completing the steps necessary to participate in the Faculty Led Education Abroad program takes time and commitment, we recommend serious applicants submit all forms as soon as possible.

Programs may be canceled due to low enrollment. If a program is canceled due to low enrollment or if students are not selected to participate in FLEAP, students will receive a full refund.

If you do not have a current U.S. passport, please initiate the process to obtain or renew your passport immediately. If you have a foreign passport, please consult with your local embassy for travel restrictions/authorizations.
